탈모를 바라보는 관점이 동양인과 서양인이 다르다?  

유독 한국인이 탈모치료에 많은 돈을 지출하는 이유에 대한 재미있는 분석이 있다. 필자가 로게인 이라는 세계적으로 유명한 탈모치료제를 한국에 출시 할 때, 유명한 두피 탈모 전문가 들과 함께 세미나를 개최한 적 있다.

재미있는 주제 중의 하나는 "왜 한국인들이 서양인에 비하여, 어려운 모발이식과 같은 부분에 많은 돈을 기꺼이 쓰는가"하는 것이었다.

모발학회 등에서 회장으로 활동하고 있던 그 의사 선생님은, 단체사진을 한장 보여 주었다. 각각 한국과 외국의 단체사진을 한장 씩 보여주면서, 탈모인의 숫자를 확인해 주었다. 아니나 다를까, 외국인 사진은 한명 걸러 한명이 탈모인데 반하여, 한국에서는 열명 중 한 두명이 탈모인인 것이다.

따라서, 탈모라는 것을 반반 정도 확률로 걸릴수 도 있는 흔한 증상으로 보는 서양인에 비하여, 한국인은 흔치 않은 증상의 하나이기 때문입니다. 그런데, 탈모라는 증상 자체가 어릴 때에는 발현되는 것이 아니기 때문에 탈모증상이 나타나는 것 자체가 나이 든 사람에 속하는 증거로 본다는 것입니다.

나이 많은 정상모발 직장상사와 나이어리지만 대머리인 부하직원이 동시에 출장을 가면, 나이어린 대머리 직원을 보고 상사로 착각 하는 경우가 많다는 것입니다. 이건 개인 취향의 문제가 아니라, 사회적,경제적 파워와도 직결되는 문제이다 보니, 심각하게 대처 할 수 밖에 없다는 것이죠...

Asians and Westerners differ in their view of hair loss?



There is an interesting analysis of why Koreans spend a lot of money on hair loss treatment. When I launched a world-famous hair loss treatment called Rogaine in Korea, I held a seminar with famous scalp hair loss experts.



One interesting topic was "Why are Koreans willing to spend a lot of money on difficult hair transplants compared to Westerners?"



The doctor, who was serving as the chairman of the Hair Society and others, showed me a group photo. The number of people with hair loss was confirmed by showing one group photo from Korea and abroad, respectively. Sure enough, every single foreigner's picture is hair loss, whereas in Korea, one out of ten people are hair loss.



Therefore, compared to Westerners who see hair loss as a common symptom that can be caught half-and-half, Koreans are one of the rare symptoms. However, since the symptoms of hair loss itself do not develop when young, the appearance of hair loss itself is seen as evidence belonging to an older person.



When an older normal hair boss and a younger but bald subordinate go on a business trip at the same time, they often mistake an older bald employee for a boss. It's not a matter of personal taste, it's a matter of social and economic power, so we have to take it seriously...
